How to Rent an ATV in Puerto Morelos: Guide & Requirements
Renting an ATV (quad) with us in Puerto Morelos is very easy. Follow these steps to get started:

Receive Your ATV and Pay:
We can deliver the ATV to a convenient location for you or, with a prior reservation, to a pickup point in Puerto Morelos. (please note: due to the low popularity of quads in Puerto Morelos, we do not have a physical office there). You can pay a deposit and the rental fee in cash (MXN, USD, EUR, CAD, GBP), by card, PayPal, Revolut or Wise. To avoid usually high transfer and conversion fees, we recommend paying the deposit and rental fee in cash or via Wise. We'll record the scooter's condition with photos/videos.

- Always Wear a Helmet: Both the rider and passenger must wear helmets while riding.
- No Riding Under Influence: Never ride the ATV or quad under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Carry Your License: Always have your original, valid driver’s license with you while riding.
- Practice Safe Riding: If you are unsure of your riding skills, do not ride on busy roads until you feel confident. Practice in a quiet and safe area. You can also ask our staff for a lesson when you receive the quad.
- Report Issues Immediately: If you experience any malfunctions or suspect any issues with the ATV (quad), report them to us immediately.
- Full Tank Policy: You receive the quad with a full tank and should return it with a full tank.
- Return in Same Condition: Please return the ATV and equipment in the same condition you received them.
- Extend Rental in Advance: If you wish to extend the ATV rental period, please arrange this with us in advance, as the quad may be reserved for the following dates.
- Early Return Notification: If you decide to return the ATV early, please notify us at least 2 hours in advance during business hours or 48 hours in advance if you want a refund.
- Opening Hours: 9 AM - 7 PM. Please make sure to plan your return accordingly.
- Responsibility: We are not liable for the choice of ATV or quad model (size, comfort, etc.), misuse (speed, load, fuel, etc.), traffic violations, accidents (collisions, flat tires, etc.), natural disasters (wind, hurricane, rain, etc.), or any expenses resulting from the above situations. Exceptions apply if covered by the selected insurance plan.
By taking possession of the ATV (quad), the renter agrees to these rules and confirms that it was received in good working condition, including properly inflated tires, functioning lights, and successful engine startup.
- What is the minimum age to rent an ATV or quad? The minimum age to rent an ATV (quad) is 18 years.
- What documents are needed to rent an ATV? To rent an ATV or quad, only a valid driver’s license is required. We only ask for a photo; the original stays with you.
- Do I need a driver’s license to operate an ATV (quad)? Yes, a valid driver’s license is required to rent and operate an ATV or quad.
- Is my national driver’s license valid for ATV rental? Yes, your national driver’s license is valid for renting and operating an ATV.
- Is an international license required for quad rental? No, it is not required. However, if you have an international driver’s license, it is also valid.
- Can I drive an ATV or quad with a car license? In most cases, a car driver’s license includes small ATVs and quads. The main thing is that you have driving experience, and it is safe.
- Do you offer insurance for ATV rentals? Yes, the rental cost includes basic insurance. You can also expand the insurance coverage for an additional fee. For details, please ask us via WhatsApp.
- What does the insurance cover? It depends on the insurance plan you choose. For details, please ask us via WhatsApp.
- Does the insurance cover incidents if I was under the influence? No, insurance does not apply if you were under the influence while driving the ATV or quad.
- Do I need to leave a deposit for ATV or quad rentals? If you choose full insurance coverage, a deposit is not required. Otherwise, a deposit is necessary.
- How much is the deposit? The deposit amount depends on the ATV (quad) model rented.
- Why is a deposit required? The deposit serves as our guarantee that the quad will be returned, and we will receive compensation if the rental rules are violated. We may also use your deposit if you decide to extend the rental for a short period.
- In what cases can the deposit be withheld or partially refunded? The deposit can be fully or partially withheld if the ATV (quad) is damaged while in your possession or stolen, and these cases are not covered by your insurance plan. The amount depends on the extent of the damage, insurance, and so on. It can also be withheld for late returns without prior notification (at least 90 minutes) for more than 30 minutes, a false courier call, losing keys or equipment, or returning the vehicle with an empty tank.
- Do you offer discounts and special offers for ATV rental? Yes, of course. The discount amount depends on the rental period. The longer the rental, the bigger the discount. We also periodically have special offers for certain quad models. For details, please ask us via WhatsApp.
- Can I extend the rental? Yes, if your quad is not booked for the following dates and times. If you decide to extend the rental, please inform us at least 2 hours before your rental period ends and during our business hours (9 AM to 7 PM).
- Can I return the ATV earlier and get a refund for unused days? Yes, we always refund money for unused days. But there are a few details. You must let us know at least 2 days (48 hours) in advance, as we are disabling the quad from availability for other customers. Also, the cost will be recalculated according to the base rate. We often make special offers based on the initial data received from you. But if this data changes (for example, the rental period or the location where you want us to pick up the ATV at the end of the rental), we reserve the right to change our price offer.
- Can I replace the rented quad with another one? Yes, of course, this is possible if another ATV (quad) is available on your dates. If you have not yet received the ATV, the replacement is free, but the rental cost for different models may vary. If you have already received the quad, the replacement at the client’s request is chargeable (depending on location), as we incur costs for washing, technical inspection, and staff time.
- Are there additional fees or charges I should know about? We do not charge any additional fees. The exceptions are when you pay for our services via PayPal or bank cards (in this case, we ask you to add 6% to the amount), or violate the rental rules. There are also common fees for currency conversion and bank transfers, but you should check this information with your bank.
- Can I cancel a booking? Yes, of course. It’s free. If you booked a quad in advance and your plans have changed, we ask you to inform us immediately. If the courier has already arrived at your location and you decide not to rent, we ask you to pay the delivery cost to cover our expenses.
- Can I rent for a long-term period? Yes, of course. Moreover, long-term rentals are the most cost-effective.
- Why is the price higher for a one-day rental? A one-day rental costs more for several reasons: Logistics and preparation: Preparing each ATV requires the same effort regardless of the rental length, including checks, refueling, and delivery. Economic efficiency: Longer rentals help us spread resources and costs more effectively. Short-term rentals concentrate these costs into one day, raising the price. Availability guarantee: Reserving an ATV for a single day often means turning down potential longer rentals, impacting the price. If you decide to extend your rental, the one-day surcharge won’t apply 😊
- Can I return the ATV to a different location from where I picked it up? Yes, but please notify us at least 2 hours in advance during business hours.
- Can I return the quad in a different city? Returning the ATV in another city is possible in some cases, and not in others. Please discuss this with us in advance via WhatsApp.
- What happens if the ATV or quad is damaged or stolen? The amount of compensation for our expenses depends on the case and the insurance coverage plan you selected.
- What happens if I do not return the ATV? We will have to contact the police with your details, as well as the insurance company, as this situation is very similar to theft.
- How will you determine if I damaged the quad or the previous renter did? We will take photos and videos of the ATV before renting it to you. You can do the same. If the quad is damaged in any way after the return, it will be shown in the preliminary photo or video.
- How and where to park the ATV? Usually, parking a rented ATV or quad is not problematic. In Puerto Morelos, you can park it at your hotel parking lot or nearby where you see other parked ATV or scooters. Also, in cities and on beaches, there are designated free parking zones marked in blue. Note the parking on Tulum beaches - there are active tow trucks, always use paid parking, which is usually inexpensive (about 50 pesos per day). This will save you significant time and cost.
- How to use the ATV? ATVs (quads) are among the easiest types of transportation to use. However, there are a few simple procedures you need to follow. When you are about to drive the ATV after a long stop, simply start it and let it idle for a few minutes. You need this to allow the oil in the engine and transmission to reach the proper pressure and lubricate all the engine and transmission parts. This will make your ride safer and smoother.
- Can I ride the quad if I have little riding experience? If you are unsure of your riding skills, do not ride on busy roads until you feel confident. Practice in a quiet and safe area. You can also ask our staff for a lesson when you receive the ATV.
- Do I need to wear a helmet while riding? Yes, it is mandatory for you and your passenger. First of all, it’s about safety, and riding without a helmet in Mexico is illegal.
- What is the engine capacity of your ATVs and quads? What is the maximum speed? We have models with 150cc, 177cc, and 200cc. ATVs reach speeds of about 45-65 km/h, depending on the model and passenger weight. This is usually more than enough for comfortable city travel and short highway trips.
- What fuel should I use? ATVs and quads need to be refueled with gasoline. We recommend using “Premium,” in extreme cases “Magna” or “Regular” is acceptable.
- Is fuel included in the quad rental cost? Do I need to return the ATV with a full tank? For your convenience, we always give you the ATV with a full tank of fuel. However, fuel is not included in the rental cost. Before returning the quad, we ask you to stop at a gas station and return the ATV with a full tank. Alternatively, you can pay the courier 250 pesos (regardless of how empty the tank is), and they will refuel the ATV for you.
- Can I ride the ATV or quad on the highway? Yes, it is possible, but we do not recommend riding on the highway. Remember, ATVs and quads are city / off-road vehicles and are a slower than the traffic flow on highways. However, if you have to ride on the highway, stay in the far-right lane and avoid overtaking to not obstruct other vehicles. Be attentive, and everything will be fine. We also strongly discourage riding on highways at night.
- Is it safe to ride a quad? Yes, riding an ATV is safe and convenient. Follow traffic rules, be attentive on the road, and everything will be fine.
- Are there areas I should avoid while riding? Puerto Morelos is generally quite safe. There are a few recommendations: avoid riding at night or in dark areas, especially in non-tourist areas.
- Can I ride an ATV or quad on the beach? No, it is illegal.
- Is it safe to ride at night? We do not recommend riding at night, especially in non-tourist areas. At night, corruption and crime rates increase.
- Can I ride a quad during the rain? Rains in Mexico are usually short-term. We recommend stopping and waiting until the rain stops. In any case, be very careful, as wet roads become very slippery.
- Is mileage limited for ATV rentals? No, mileage is unlimited, so you can explore Puerto Morelos and surrounding areas freely. The exceptions are special conditions for long-term rentals, which are agreed upon in advance.
- What should I do if the ATV or quad breaks down? You should contact us immediately and explain what is happening. Often, this can be resolved by pressing a button that has been overlooked or by properly turning the ignition key. We check the condition of the ATVs before each rental and regularly perform technical maintenance, but due to the humid climate and operating conditions (dust, vibrations, etc.), unforeseen breakdowns rarely but still occur. Therefore, in any case, inform us of what is happening so that we can provide further instructions, send a replacement quad, or a mechanic.
- What should I do if I get a flat tire? If you get a flat tire, you need to stop and not continue driving. You cannot ride with a flat tire. It is dangerous and can lead to a fall or damage the wheel rim or other parts of the ATV. You need to inform us and share your location. We will then provide possible solutions.
- What should I do if I am stopped by the police while riding an ATV or quad? In Puerto Morelos, the police rarely stop tourists. But if you are stopped, you should know that cases of corruption are common, and be prepared for this. Stay calm, show all necessary documents, your driver’s license, and explain that you are riding a rented quad and everything is fine. If you have violated something and they do not want to let you off with a warning, we recommend paying the fine immediately. The fine amount depends on the violation, but on average, it can be around 500-1000 Mexican pesos.
